Hidden Reserves

Vienna in the not too distant future. The corporate world has once and for all seized power. People have to pay back their debts – even beyond death. While being kept in an undeserving artificial coma, bodies are being exploited as data storage devices, spare organ depots or surrogate mothers. The only protection against such a fate is death insurance, which is only available as a luxury to a lucky few. Cold blooded top insurance agent Vincent Baumann, who is put on the case of resistance fighter Lisa Sokulowa, is more and more drawn under her spell and becomes a victim of the system he represents. He starts to suspect the insurance agency is playing a double game with him. The boundaries of who works for and who against the system begin to blur, who from the outside and who from the inside …

Starting from the unsettling premise that even death is no longer one’s very own property, Valentin Hitz’s dystopian thriller creates a fascinating nightmare world, populated by a brilliant cast.
