THOSE WHO WORK

A man defined by his work, 45-years-old Frank is diligent, reliable and tireless. He built a career for himself in Geneva handling cargo ships for a major transportation company, but he suffers a crucial setback after making a life-and-death judgement call about a crisis on one of his ships, which leads to his firing. But for someone who turned his professional status into a pillar of existence, walking away is not an option. Ashamed and angry, he enters a rabbit hole of deception which threatens to make things even worse, especially for the only relationship he cares about: the one with his youngest daughter Mathilde.

A harsh, uncompromising portrayal of a social landscape that forces people to fall into the categories of either “those who work” or "those who benefit from it", Antoine Russbach’s debut boldly ventures into the cold, glossy terrain of corporate brutality to carve the story of a contemporary anti-hero and symbol of anxious masculinity. Olivier Gourmet rises to the task as Frank, a desperate man chewed up by the system and left with no recourse.
