1. Saas-Fee Filmfest (SFFF)
Five-Countries-Competition

Saas-Fee, 18th december 2013 – In the third week of March 2014 in the Wallis ski resort the 1. Saas-Fee Filmfest will take place. From Wednesday until Sunday, the two initiators and festival directors Stefan Fichtner and Gabriel Zurbriggen will show features and documentaries from Switzerland as well as from Austria, Germany, France and Italy.

In a Five-Country-Competition new Swiss productions will be presented and films from the neighbouring countries, where the languages of Switzerland are spoken. For the five-day-fest the venerable Saas-Fee Cinema Rex will be revived, after having been out of use for years. Today the advance sale for festival passes and 3-tickets-sets opens at the Tourist Organisation Saas-Fee/Saastal. 3-day-packages (from CHF 420) and 5-daypackages (CHF 767) of festival passes, ski passes and hotel accomodation are on offer (http://web.deskline.net/saasfeepackage/de/list_package).

Festival maker Stefan Fichtner from Berlin, who is the SFFF's Artistic Director, and actor Gabriel Zurbriggen from Saas-Fee, who is in charge of Administration and Management, want to set a clear sign with this cultural highlight, which adresses tourists and film fans as well as locals. "We are curious for an inspiring interchange at this intersection of five countries" they underline.

The best film verdict of the Five-Countries-Competition will be delivered by a three-person professional jury. Festival guests are invited to vote for the audience award. Film makers, actors and actresses are invited to present their films in person in Saas-Fee, which was named "Best Swiss Ski Resort" in 2012. Festival visitors will have the opportunity to ski or hike during the day, as the film programme starts at 17:00.
