Pierfrancesco Diliberto,
known as Pif, was born in Palermo in 1972. At the start of his career he worked as an assistant director to Franco Zefirelli. In 2007 he created Il Testimone for MTV, his first individual programme, one of the most original and innovative in the current TV sector. Since 2011, he has been involved with Il Testimone VIP, which gives detailed accounts of the daily life of prominent figures from the worlds of sports, politics and show business. Mafia only kills in summer is his directorial debut.
The day the well-known Mafioso Vito Ciancimino is elected mayor of Palermo is also the day Arturo is born, and this coincidence will have many more consequences on his life than one would think. In fact, the boy has two obsessions, each of which consumes him entirely: his tormented love for Flora, who shares a desk with him in class and who he has been in love with since elementary school; and his obsession about the frightening connections between his city and the Mafia. This second obsession isolates him from everybody, including Flora, until, unfortunately, current events prove him right. The directorial debut of Italian TV-Star Pif is a quirky comedy with big love of detail and a fresh and cheeky gaze on Italy‘s favourite topic.
